John "Jack" Brooks picked up his first bowling ball at age 2 at Gable House bowl during a kiddie birthday party. While the other kids finished their games and headed toward the arcade and cake, Jack cried to stay on the lanes and continue bowling. He was intrigued with the game. He always held the ball with two hands because of his size. Hanging with grandma Robin Burns, during league play and tournaments, he decided he wanted to "play with the big kids". At age 5, he joined the juniors at Bowl-O-Drome. He started winning trophies there. He bowled his first USBC tournament at age 5 Covina Lanes. He then transferred to Gardena Bowl for a few years where he honed his skills at two-handed bowling. Jack also loves basketball and was a key player in his league, winning first place two years in a row. His idol was Kobe Bryant. He has that Mamba Mentality. He has been bowling with the Juniors at Keystone Lanes for the past 4 years. He is carrying a 200 average. He has won scholarship money in tournaments. All the while, maintaining an A average in school. He is a senior now, taking AP courses in Physics, English, Economics, and Statistics. Jack has his sights set on college and a career in Math and Science fields. He thanks a very supportive bowling village, including friends of his grandma, who have been there for him from day one.
